Easy? Did I say easy?

Ok, not everything is easy...Yesterday, I commented back to Lazy Daisy and Sweet Cherry about being OP was pretty easy so far! Well, that ended today! It was not easy!

I got to go to my twin grandaughters kindergarten program, which I didn't think I would be able to attend. I had 45 minutes to shower, dress, do my hair, make up, and fly out the door and go to the next town for the program. And of course I had to find the school. I have never driven there myself, always rode with my daughter, and came in a different way! Yikes! Well, I pulled off the freeway right behind an unmarked police car...oh joy, no more speeding for me. Of course my mind is racing and I just know I am gonna miss them singing.

Phew! I walked in just seconds before they started. It was so worth it! Both of them got big ole smiles when they saw me. It was a really cute program. It was kinda funny watching my littlest trying to sit crosslegged in a skirt and still sit like a lady! lol!

Oh, now where it got hard...after the program there is a reception in their classroom. Home made chocolate chip cookies (my favorite) and juice. Well, I was trying to be strong! So what does our very own "Fat Chick" do? She goes and gets 3 cookies and tries to force me to eat one. It was so hard. It was about 11:30 by then and I had not eaten anything. Chocolate Chip Cookies guys! But after my post yesterday...about snacks vs. treats, I decided I really better put it to the test. I made it out of there without a cookie, but it was NOT easy!

Didn't hurt that I was wearing an outfit that I couldn't even button a couple months ago, had to wear the top open. Today it was buttoned all the way and still loose. And the pants' pockets didn't bulge anymore, but fit loose. Very cool! That was a good feeling!

This is a day by day thing, and sometimes hour to hour and even minute to minute! My salad with tuna, tomatoes and green onions, and a hard boiled egg, tasted pretty good! Not quite like a chocolate chip cookie, but sweet none the less!

Thought for the Day!

I read this over at Diet Porn is Obsession. She has the coolest blog! Gives you all sorts of meal ideas, especially lunch. Check it out.

This is what I learned today...the difference between snacks and treats. Snacks are mini-meals and will provide nourishment. Treats will not meet those conditions and will therefore be less healthy, i.e. contain more sugar, etc.

Boy, this is really an eye opener to some. I have always known this, but sometimes need to be reminded! There are so many diet food products out there that enable us to eat pretty much like everyone else. But honestly folks...junk is still junk, whether is is "baked and not fried" or "sugar free"" or "fat free", IT IS STILL JUNK! It is not nourishing our bodies and isn't that the whole idea of eating healthy? To give our bodies good fuel and not just a bunch of additives, preservatives, and other things we can not even pronounce.

Trust me, I am not one of those "holier than thou" dieters, (just read my last few posts!) but some things just come and smack you in the face! This is one reason that I did not want to go on weight watcher's because it gives you the latitude to eat junk like there absolutely delicious ice cream sandwiches or even a piece of wedding cake and still stay within your points. Kinda like God giving us "free will". It can definately get you in trouble.

My goal is to really watch what I am fueling my body with and to try to have snacks and not treats!

Today's weigh-in

Ok, I have NO idea how I lost 2 pounds this week! Does guilt make you lose weight? I have sooooo not been OP, which really sucks as it was only my second week!

I have a catered dinner tomorrow and then it should be smooth sailing for awhile! Yeah! I need to do some menu planning, and get serious! Wish me luck!

Weight Watchers Smart Ones Ice Cream Sandwiches (vanilla)

NO, I CANNOT have these tasty little items in my house! They are wonderful. They taste great! Kudos to WW for making something that simply does not taste like cardboard and mushy frozen white water! BUT, I CANNOT have them in my house!

I knew that they tasted too good! Last time I got them I ate two of them in one day. One when I brought them home and one later as Hubby and I had one after dinner.

But yesterday was bad! And I mean very bad! I had one, and I had another a little later, and another and another, til they were gone. I NEED AN INTERVENTION! Well, by then I realize that I can't have any of these things in my house, (and I am way too cheap to throw them out) so I started on the ones that I don't even like, which were the cookies and cream ones. I had to get rid of them now! Thank God there were only a couple, ok maybe three or four of those left! By this time I am half sick! I am not sure I was sick enough not to pig out on them next time, so I am off the little dream delicasies for good! Well, atleast there is none left in my house!

Gee, I wonder which way the scale will go this week! Ugghhh!

Too much cake!

Boy this weekend was a rough one! We went to a wedding on Friday night. I helped to cut the cake! I didn't even snitch any while we were cutting it, even though I would have liked to. I did break down and take a small piece. I only ate about four bites as it was not yummy enough to sacrifice the points. I was not too upset with that, but then Sunday afternoon, I had a bridal shower to go to. Now that cake was great and I did have a piece. I know, I am weak! Had to use some flex points. I really want to eat healthier than this and it irritates me when I break down and have it anyway!

I have done well today and have walked on the treadmill too so I finally will be getting some activity points in. There sure wasn't any this weekend. I know I can't beat myself up, so I am just gonna wipe the frosting off my face and get to it!

Weigh-in and Kitty Day!

Yesterday was weigh-in! (And no...that is not me on the scale! If my calves were that small I wouldn't be so worried about what the scale is saying!) I didn't get a chance to post yesterday as my daughter told me that her kitty was about to have her kitten cats. We, being mom's, were very worried about this little mamma cat. She is one of the very small (kinda scrawney) cats, really long and lanky. We had serious doubts about her ability to deliver. And she is only eight months old! So being a good Gramma and Mamma, I went over to support my daughter as she stood by in case she was needed. I have had to help deliver kitties before so I was on standby. This poor kitty woke my daughter up at 6:30 and didn't have her first kitty until 10:15. That one took quite awhile after it had started. Between that time and 2:45, she delivered 6 little babies. All healthy and clean and chowing down when I left. Gracie was very tired but she did great! I am sure there will be pictures over at Plaid Toaster soon!

Now getting back to the weigh-in! I lost 5 pounds! Still not back to where I was, when I got lazy about being healthy, but only 4 more pounds to go. Why do we gain so much faster than we can lose. I can gain it in the blink of an eye and it takes weeks and weeks to take it off again. Oh well, it is going in the right direction! And I will feel better in the process! I do need to concentrate on exercise though. I am afraid I didn't do too well on this this week. It has been sooooo hot! We had a couple days at about 100 and the rest in the 90's. I am not inclined to do too much at those temps. I will work on it this week.

Have a great Sunday!

What a trip!

A trip to the bathroom, I am afraid! Yeah, I have been getting all my fruits and veggies. And ya gotta love that fiber! Need to throw in a little more protein to balance it a bit better, me thinks!

Other than that, I have been staying on program. Having trouble getting my exercise in. Been so much going on. I know that is no excuse. I need to schedule the time. The truth is that I get a bit slugish when the temperature gets above 90. Yesterday it was officially 91 and my daughter said it was 100 at her house, a whole nine or ten miles from me. We are not air conditioned. Just some fans and a small unit for our bedroom which is upstairs on a west exposure. HOT HOT HOT! (And not for the right reasons!)

Buffett Challenge!

I had my first, actually my second big challenge, (the first was the cookies at church and I didn't even go on that side of the room!) today as Mom took me to lunch at "Old Country Buffett". I think I did pretty good. I had some watermelon and a small salad with spring greens and broccoli and onions, and a small amount of green peas. I sprinkled about a teaspoon of oil on the salad and some vinegar. I had a very small hamburger patty with a thin slice of cheese. I was going to have the baked chicken but it really looked kinda greasy. (and old) Yuck!
I drank my water, and didn't have dessert, I didn't even go back for seconds...that was a first! lol!

Question about points!

Hey I am really liking this weight watcher thing! I have not even been hungry! I do have one question though! Do you have to use all your daily points? I know it is not good for your body to fall below a certain amount of calories. I think I should be fine there. I am supposed to have 28, and yesterday I still had 7.5 left before activity points.
It has been so pretty today, and really warm! I have been planting some flowers and did Mom's grocery shopping. I bought some more plants when I was out so will be back outside planting again as soon as I am done.
Hope you have a great day!

Day two!

I did pretty good today, on my food, anyway! Think I did a little too much walking uphill yesterday. My thighs and calves were pretty tight and sore today! I just stretched them out a little and did a short upper body workout instead of walking! Hope you all had a great Mother's Day!

Day One!

Today was my first day on weight watcher's. I have to say...I was not hungry, in fact in seemed like I had to eat alot in order to get everything in that I need. I had no problem with getting in the fruits and vegetables, or my water. Dairy has always been the hardest for me. Ended up having two fat free, sugar free yogurts. Gonna have to work on that. Did good though and walked for 30 minutes too. I think this may work. Woo hoo!

May 13th is "The Day"

Yep...you got it! I know it sounds weird...but this Saturday will be my "Monday"! You know we all start our diets on Monday, and secretly we pray Monday never comes! Nobody truly likes to DIET! I am no exception to this. But I have told you all that I am going to try weight watchers. So Saturday/Monday is the day!

I don't really look at this as a DIET. I hate that word anyway! I know what I need to eatto keep my body healthy. The Prism program taught me that. I do believe in that program, but I can not live with it forever. It makes no allowances for any empty calories. Occaisionally you do have to have some chocolate, we are women, afterall! As long as it is not an all-the-time-thing. I am the kind of person that has a very hard time staying motivated if I feel like I have blown it! I do need the structure of a program sometimesm but I need to be ok with having some chocolate or ice cream or something sweet besides fruit once in awhile, without feeling like I have blown my DIET.

I have the program so I will not be going to meetings. You guys are my support group. I know you didn't sign up for this, but I am gonna need all the help I can get. I also have a friend that has been on weight watchers before and is diabetic like me, who wants to go back on it. So here we go! I also work at the church with a lady who has made it to goal and has been there for about a year now. She did not have nearly the weight to lose that I do, but she is a real inspiration and I am sure she has lots of great recipes.

It's kinda funny how God puts people in your path to help you when you need it. I have been volunteering at my church for around three years now and work very closely with someone I have come to know as a close friend, and never did I know she had gone to weight watchers. I said something to her about starting weight watchers the other day and she gives me the Big High Five. She was in Prism with me, and we both did well then, but feel the same way about the lack of flexability. She is one of the biggest pains in my butt about drinking pop or not watching my blood sugars. But ya gotta love her.

So you all have to drop in and give me some hugs and check to see if I am drinking all my water and getting enough exercise, and consuming all my fruits and veggies, in other words...you need to keep me honest! Love you guys!

I am getting prepared to start weight watchers. I need some good easy breakfast recipes. Seems like that is where my problem is. Either I get up and I am not hungry in the morning, or I am ravenous and just want food NOW! Normally though, I am having to force myself to eat early enough to even qualify for breakfast. I would appreciate any help you can give. I know the importance of eating breakfast and recognise my problems in this area. I need to eat by eight or so just to keep my blood sugar in control. Hope you all have some great recipes!

Don't leave me!

Sorry I have not been on here...hope you all have not deserted me! I know you are feeling ignored! Sorry, but I just have not been up to it...please pop on over to my other blog In My Jammies and read the "blowfish" entry. Hope you will all understand. I am finally starting to see some improvement tho. I have been eating anything that has not eaten me first as long as it is something the doc thinks I can have right now. My whole body will look like a puffed up blowfish at this rate. Hopefully starting weight watcher's on Monday.
